Trax Tavern and Grill in Deerfield has brand-new, healthier menu items. Robert Cohn, general manager of the restaurant, said that he began looking at healthier choices after talking to customers. “We are very customer-oriented,” Cohn said. “I talked to the parents about it, and they said they would rather have their kids have a smoothie than a soda to drink. So we added a smoothie machine.” Smoothies, in a variety of fruit flavors like strawberry and banana, sell for $3.99. Report: Illinois teen employment at lowest rate

Teen employment has continued to plummet in Illinois, according to a new report from Northeastern University. The rate dived to 27.5 percent in 2011, the lowest teen employment rate in the 42 years for which data is available. It is down from just under 50 percent in 1999-2000 and from 36 percent in 2007.

Yoga and meditation instructor Susan Ginsberg said she found a higher calling when she started a special business in 2007, helping cancer patients and those with illnesses cure their anxiety through the power of breathing.
