Drug symposium warns parents about substance abuse

Stevenson High School hosted the Community Symposium “Saving Our Children” on Wednesday, a discussion of the dangers of illicit drug use, an annual event held in conjunction with Buffalo Grove High School. Also invited were families from Libertyville and Vernon Hills high schools.

Lincolnshire is considering allowing restaurants to let patrons bring their own bottles to the table. The village’s liquor ordinances forbid BYOB service — and that will remain for the immediate future. Trustees on Monday continued a discussion on the matter that began April 23, though they have yet to draft an ordinance to consider. Self defense club has a hold at Stevenson

Self Defense Intramural Club may be the only opportunity for students to be introduced and even encouraged to put their teacher into a martial-arts style submission hold. “Look at how happy he is right now,” Stevenson High School world history teacher Josh Flood said regarding his student during a club meeting. Stevenson honors Holocaust survivor with Heritage Award

Almost 70 years after escaping from the worst conflict the Earth has seen, Aaron Elster still is not done fighting, choosing a distinctly 21st century battle to aid people almost 70 years younger. Elster, a Lincolnshire resident and native of Poland, visits Stevenson High School annually to tell his tale of Holocaust survival. On Friday, SHS will honor his work with its Heritage Award, given every year to an individual who has made a positive impact on the Patriots.
