Support Ann Maine for County Board
I take my duties as a citizen seriously. That’s why I carefully read up on each of the candidates who will be on my election ballot on March 20. I started with the Lake County Board candidates in my district (21) —after all, “all politics are local.” And, yikes!
There are three candidates on the Republican ticket, one incumbent and two who are new to political office. As I read their submitted comments, I found that there’s really no race at all. Ann Maine is clearly the right person for the job. While I like to see “new” people run for office, I also want to see that they actually understand complex issues. “Lake County hospital?” We don’t have a Lake County hospital. “Reimbursement from the state?” Our state government? The one running six to eight months behind paying its bills ... if it’s paying them at all?
I’ve known incumbent Ann Maine for years. I’ve asked for explanations of Lake County and forest preserve actions and each time have gotten a thorough explanation. I’ve watched her study issues, get opinions, and take tough stands when needed. I’ve also seen that she gained political experience at the local level — Village of Lincolnshire Board of Trustees — before she took that knowledge and experience into the larger realm of our county. Most of all, I’m glad she’s running because I see that it’s Ann who has the knowledge and expertise to be our board member. This is one candidate who’s easy to vote for.
