Holiday Art sale

Find gift ideas next week at the College of Lake County’s annual Holiday Art Sale.

The juried sale will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 1, from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 3 and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 4 at CLC’s Grayslake campus, 19351 W. Washington St.

Items will include original art by 30 different artists from Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. Pieces range from hand-made jewelry and wearable art, to decorative and functional ceramics, wood and metal sculptures, fused and blown glass, mosaics, soaps and candles.

The sale is sponsored by the CLC Foundation and a portion of the proceeds help fund student scholarships.

Also, holiday shopping will be at the Artcetera Gallery Winter Sale on Dec. 11 and 12 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. For details, call (847) 543-2405.

Jazz combo concert

CLC’s Jazz Combo will perform at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3. Directed by CLC adjunct music instructor Tim Barclay, the combo will play several pieces written by its members.

The Jazz Combo consists of Anthony Hill (alto saxophone), Kenny Jones (tenor saxophone), Neal Lukenbill (guitar), Justin Wolff (piano), Bill Chapin (bass), Nadav Simon (drums) and Liz Gangware (vocals).

Toys for Tots

CLC’s Classified Senate is sponsoring a toy drive in conjunction with the Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots Program.

Three drop-off boxes are available until Dec. 14 at the CLC Grayslake campus, where students and community members can donate new, unwrapped toys, which will be distributed to needy children. Collection boxes are located in the Library, at the Information Desk in the Main Lobby and in the P.E. Center (Building 7).
