BUFFALO GROVE — Local fire department dive teams recently went for a swim in the cold water of Buffalo Grove’s Grass Lake.

The pubic safety divers included personnel from the Buffalo Grove Fire Department, Long Grove Fire Protection District and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District, along with other members of each department acting as shore-line crews.

The effort served as part of the agencies’ annual training requirements, and an opportunity for the area departments to work together as it is difficult for any one department to have the resources necessary when divers are needed.

It also was designed to instruct new firefighters on how to assist the divers as shore personnel.
