The Vernon Area Public Library is looking for a new trustee.
Akrom Hossain, who won election to the Vernon Area Public Library’s Board of Trustees last year, resigned last week, citing work conflicts.
“It was challenging to come to the meetings,” said Cynthia Fuerst, the VAPL’s executive director. “He travels quite a bit for his job.
“We were sorry to see him go,” she said. “I think he would have added a lot, with his fresh perspective.”
Hossain could not immediately be reached for comment Friday. Fuerst said he sent the board a letter on Jan. 6, notifying trustees of his immediate resignation, which it accepted at its Jan. 16 meeting.
The board will appoint a replacement for Hossain’s term, which expires in May 2017. Candidates must complete the “application for trustee appointment,” available at www.vapld.info or the Patron Services Desk in the library, 300 Olde Half Day Road Lincolnshire; candidates must be registered voters living within the district.
Applications will be due Feb. 27. The board will hold an informal “meet and greet” with the candidates at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 20 at the library, before its usual meeting.
The board expects to makes its decision on a replacement in March.
