A Buffalo Grove woman has died from injuries she suffered in a crash Friday night in Lincolnshire where a vehicle was going southbound in the northbound lanes on Milwaukee Avenue near Route 22.
Shruti Phadnis, 26, of the 100 block of Johnson Drive, died Wednesday at 6:22 a.m. at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, from multiple traumatic injuries, according to Lake County Coroner Artis Yancey.
She was injured in the crash when a driver in a Honda crashed into street signs on Route 22 and then went the wrong way on Milwaukee Avenue, passing a police officer near Aptakisic Road at a high rate of speed.
A moment later the Honda struck a Toyota and a Jeep, sending four people to area hospitals. Phadnis was a front seat passenger in the Toyota.
Lincolnshire police said Wednesday the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team is investigating the crash. No charges have been filed against the driver.
Police said they are awaiting toxicology tests. All drivers provided blood and urine samples.
In 2010, Phadnis was an international student from India, attending Illinois State University through that summer.
The other three injured people were expected to be released from the hospital.
