Who knew an Air Raid could be fun? That’s the name of the next program in the Kids Fare series, 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall, 50 Arts Circle Drive, Evanston.

Richard Van Kleeck, director of concert activities for Northwestern University’s Henry and Leigh Bienen School of Music, explained the title.

“We’re featuring any instrument that’s not brass, that you motivate with air,” he said.

Van Kleeck reported that music students Morgan Kent and Sarah Campbell are bringing in musicians from the different wind sections and have also planned some surprises. “At the end of the program, it’s a tradition to invite all the children up onto the stage,” he added. “You can meet the performers and see the instruments up close.”

Van Kleeck concluded it’s particularly “neat” for children “to see people having fun making music.”

The program is geared toward children ages 3-8 and their families. Tickets are $6, $4 for students.
