1. Taste of Serbia Food and Music Festival, noon Saturday
Celebrate Serbian cuisine, music and culture. A host of Serbian meats are available such as barbecued pork and lamb, chevapchichi, pork sausages, shish kebabs and pljeskavica. Other foods served are stuffed cabbage rolls, crepes, pitas, baklava and tortes. In addition, attendees are invited to learn about orthodox traditions, enjoy children’s activities like inflatables and games and shop at the bookstore. 2. Ghost Walk of Palatine, 7 p.m. Sunday
Take a walking tour of some of the haunted downtown areas. All proceeds go to charity. Durty Nellie’s, 180 N. Smith St., Palatine. $3-$5.

3. Solar Observing, noon Sunday
The whole family is invited to join the Northwest Suburban Astronomers to observe the nearest star with special telescopes and filters. Participants can see sunspots, solar prominences and more. Participants are encouraged to bring a dish for a potluck picnic. Stillman Nature Center, 33 W. Penny Road, South Barrington.

4. Walk on the Wildflower Side, 10 a.m. Saturday
Learn how to identify some of the area’s wildflowers on a leisurely walk through the forest preserve. For ages 8 and up. Registration required. Captain Daniel Wright Woods Forest Preserve, Saint Mary’s Road and W. Everett Road, Mettawa. $5-$7.

5. Lake Forest High School Dance Team Pom/Dance Clinic, 4:15 p.m. Friday
Registration is 4:15-4:30 p.m., he program is 4:30-6 p.m., dinner is 6-6:30 p.m., practice is 6:30-7:15 p.m. and the performance is at halftime of the varsity football game, approximately 8:15 p.m. Dancers should wear black pants and athletic or dance shoes. Limited to 80 participants. Lake Forest High School West Campus, 300 S. Waukegan Road, Lake Forest. $50.
