1. Little Bear Ribfest, Friday and Saturday
This Vernon Hills festival offers a mix of live music, beer and ribs. The event is scheduled 6 p.m. to midnight Aug. 22 and 3 p.m. to midnight Aug. 23. Century Park, 1001 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills. $5.
2. Street Fest, 5 p.m. Friday
The festival features live music, local cuisine and family entertainment and activities. The three-day fest is open 5 p.m. to midnight Aug. 22, 11 a.m. to midnight Aug. 23, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 24. Downtown Palatine, Eric Drive, Palatine.
3. Yoga in Nature, 10 a.m. Sunday
Unroll your yoga mat outdoors in the midst of nature with a professional yoga instructor. Registration and release form required. For details, call 847-381-6592. Crabtree Nature Center, 3 Stover Road, Barrington Hills.
4. Film Festival in the Woods, 6 p.m. Saturday
Bring a picnic blanket or lawn chair and enjoy a collection of award-winning nature-inspired short films, including “Amazing Grace,” “Eel Water Rock Man,” “My Own Hands,” “One Plastic Beach” and “Premiere Automne.” Participate in the guided gallery tour of Avian Spirits, and enjoy a musical performance by the Music Institute of Chicago. 5. Willow House Walk to Remember, 8 a.m. Sunday
Participate in the annual 5K run or one-mile walk to support Willow House a nonprofit organization that helps grieving children and their families. Registration begins at 8 a.m. for the run and 9 a.m. for the walk. Independence Grove Forest Preserve, 16400 W. Buckley Road, Libertyville. $10-$25.
6. Jack Rizman Memorial Golf Outing, 10:30 a.m. Sunday
Join in for the men’s club’s 19th annual golf outing. The outing includes an electric cart, contest holes, course cash for food and drink and a summer barbecue. Registration check can be made payable to CBJ Men’s Club. Buffalo Grove Golf Club, 48 Raupp Blvd., Buffalo Grove. $120.
7. Annual Pawgust Fest, 11 a.m. Saturday
Labrador Education And Rescue Network (LEARN) hosts the 10th Annual Pawgust Fest. The event includes swimming in a pool and pond, lure coursing, demos, vendors and games for the dogs. New to this year is a swimsuit contest for dogs. Pawgust Fest, 25775 N. St. Marys Road, Libertyville. $12.
